SLS Fundraiser Dinner & Educational Event - with Speaker Bruce Smith and catered dinner by Riversong Catering.
Bruce Smith is leading the charge for building a local food system in a Montana community. Bruce is the Extension agent way out east in Glendive, Mt. Here's a list of what he is starting there (some of which we could do here): a producers' marketing co-op with online ordering,
local food restaurant and microbrewery,
local food store,
culinary/cooking school,
shared-use commercial kitchen,
community gardens, high tunnels (also known as hoop houses).
Also, there will be a silent auction of Food items. Tickets will be sold at the Bitterroot Star in Stevensville and at Chapter 1 Bookstore in Hamilton. Tickets must be purchased by Sept. 20 (so we know how many meals to prepare). Call Jill for more information: 642-3601.

Community Food Project (CFP) Coalition Meetings:
Monthly CFP Coalition meetings are held on the 4th Thursday of the month to engage the community in assessing the current food system and planning a local food system.
Call if you have questions about being a part of the Coalition. All are welcome. Jill: 642-3601. Next Meeting: Thurs., Sept. 25 , 7:00 p.m.,
Human Resource Council Bldg., 3rd & Pine, N. door.
We will discuss progress with the CFP Assessment Tasks and building the Coalition. This file is our 'talking points' flier and it explains the project in as few a words a possible while still giving the full picture. (speaking of pictures, see the cool pic below - what is it made of?)
